Simply Splendid
By takingadayoff
This collection of crosswords is perfect, not at all sneaky. I've become rather picky about crosswords over the years, maybe because there are so many choices. This small format book, about 6 by 9 inches, is the only size I buy anymore. It's small enough to take anywhere, but big enough to write in easily.

There are 150 puzzles, double the usual amount. They range from easy to difficult, Monday to Saturday and are all labeled. There are 20 puzzles each of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and 30 puzzles each of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. This is the first time I've seen an easy to hard collection weighted toward the difficult and I like it. It's nice to have some easy puzzles to break up the tough ones, but the tough ones are really the most fun.

I can't tell the difference between Monday and Tuesday puzzles, they seem about the same level to me, pretty easy. Wednesday is easy but a little more interesting, and Thursday is getting more difficult, but almost always doable. Friday and Saturday seem to be the same level of difficulty, very hard. And Sunday (there are no Sunday puzzles in this collection) is about like Thursday in difficulty, but about twice as big.

Good collection!

The Title is Correct

The title is right, the clues are absolutely sneaky. I sometimes wonder if its harder to create the physical puzzle with all its words, or in coming up with devilishly fiendish clues.
