About the Author
TETSUYA MIYAMOTO, the creator of KenKen, is a math teacher who runs a unique mathematics class for grade school children in Japan where he practices "The Art of Teaching Without Teaching." His teaching method and use of KenKen in his classroom has proven extremely successful. His students regularly go on to be accepted at the most prestigious schools in Tokyo.
WILL SHORTZ has been the crossword puzzle editor of The New York Times since 1993. He is also the puzzlemaster on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday and is founder and director of the annual American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. He has edited countless books of crossword puzzles, Sudoku, KenKen, and all manner of brain-busters.

Not "challenging", but great for beginning Mental KenKen

If you want to start doing KenKen without taking notes, and doing it all in your head instead, this is the perfect book to segue into doing just that! The title is misleading in that it really isn't "challenging" per se, I would label it "intermediate" instead. The book contains 65 4x4 puzzles, 85 5x5 puzzles, 65 6x6 puzzles and 85 7x7 puzzles.

Not what I expected after "looking inside"

I love Ken Ken puzzles that are challenging and this book falls WAY short in the department (no pun intended). When I "looked inside" I found examples of the level of puzzle I like. Unfortunately, the first 65 are 4X4s, the next 83 are 5X5s, the following 65 are 6X6s and the remaining puzzles are 7X7s . . . hardly what I'd call challenging. If you like 8X8s or 9X9, don't buy this book. It's a complete waste of money. Check out Tetsuya Miyamotos "Martial Arts" series instead.

difficulty way over-rated

If you're reasonably good at Kenken, you will not find very many of these 300 puzzles to be "diabolical". The 5 x 5's can mostly be done just about as fast as you can write. There were about 20 puzzles among the 7x7s and 9x9's which truly fit the description. Still, I enjoyed them.
