I love mysteries. This was a delightful, suspense filled mystery from beginning to end. I loved the emotion from the twists and turns of this delightful family. It surprised me too the end.

Haywood Hits Another Homer!

From the time I first filched "Queen Bee" from my sister-in-law, I've been sold on Haywood Smith. Thanks to Amazon, I was able to find her earlier books as well. And then came her "Red Hat" series... Anyone with girlfriends will enjoy those...and then came the sequel...and Ladies of the Lake..."Mother-in-Law" came along just as we were preparing for my daughter's wedding...need I say more? I ordered "Waking up in Dixie," thinking I'd keep it to read on an upcoming cruise to the Mexican Riviera. Nope! I opened the book, telling myself I'd just read a page or so...and I was hooked! Finished it about 5:30 this morning. Anyone living in the South will appreciate her characters and if you're not southern-born, I guarantee you'll wish you were after you read them. With this book you see a woman just living her life as it comes. Her days are boring and her husband the epitome of the evil banker...until his stroke. All of a sudden,nothing but the truth comes out of his mouth - it's almost Ebeneezer Scrooge revisited; something you can imagine but it'd never happen...until now. Haywood, I love you and I love your characters. How you keep bringing us these great women who are all different, but so compelling, I don't know; but rest assured I'm a fan for life, and your books are a great gift to anyone I like. Knowing you're a fellow Red Hatter just tops it all off. Enjoy being a college student, but pllllllease keep writing! Fellow readers, you won't choose wrong if you choose anything written by Haywood Smith, possibly even her grocery list! Enjoy them, I certainly have.

Recommendation to read Haywood Smith books.

Loved this book! I have never read much for entertainment untill a patient recommended "Waking Up In Dixie" by Haywood Smith. I enjoyed this book so much that I read another book by the same author, "The Red Hat Club". I loved this book also. I would like to read more of Haywood Smith's books if I could get them all for my new Kindle3.
